Liposculpture
Home » Liposculpture

Liposculpture is a Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery procedure performed to eliminate localized fat deposits between the skin and muscles. The objective of the operation is to permanently reshape the body's contour, and it is done in specific areas such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, and chin. It has slight differences from traditional liposuction.
For greater comfort and patient safety, liposculpture is usually performed under general anesthesia. However, there is also the option of non-surgical or non-invasive liposculpture, which does not require anesthesia or, in some cases, only local anesthesia may be sufficient.
Why is it done?
It is important to emphasize that this procedure is not a form of surgery for obesity or weight loss, but rather involves the direct removal of localized fat. Liposculpture is designed to target stubborn fat deposits that are difficult to eliminate, even with healthy habits of balanced nutrition and physical exercise. Thus, patients undergoing liposculpture typically have a normal or overweight body weight.
What is liposculpture?
Liposculpture consists of making some incisions smaller than 1cm. in which the specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery introduces a cannula with aspiration to extract fat from the area in question. In some cases, the patient may require that the extracted fat be reimplanted in other areas, such as the buttocks or breasts. The duration of the surgery will depend on the areas to be treated and the volume of fat of each patient, but it does not usually exceed 4 hours.

Preparation for liposculpture
If the patient is in good health, they can undergo liposculpture without the need for prior medical studies. However, if they have a tendency to bleed or have any other medical condition, a preliminary medical examination will be conducted, including a checkup, measurement of heartbeat and blood pressure, and possibly blood tests.
The specialist may advise the patient not to take any anticoagulant medication at least 10 days before the procedure. Additionally, the pressure of the elastic bandage that the patient will wear after liposculpture will be measured beforehand.
