Brachioplasty
Home » Braquioplasty

Brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery, is a surgical intervention performed to eliminate arm fat and restore firmness to the skin in that area. This issue arises from excess skin, leading to sagging in the arms, without necessarily involving excess fat on the inner part of the arms.
Thanks to brachioplasty, it is possible to reduce arm volume and tighten the skin, thereby improving shape and contour. While it is a cosmetic procedure, it also contributes to comfort as arms often rub against clothing and the chest during movement.
Types of brachioplasty
There are three degrees of brachioplasty depending on the degree of sagging skin.
- Brachioplasty Grade I
At the first level, the sagging is very mild, and a high-definition lipolaser intervention will be sufficient to eliminate the problem. By retracting the excess fat, the skin tightens and regains its previous state.
- Brachioplasty Grade II
In this case, the sagging is more pronounced, and the patient has a large amount of excess skin on the lower part of the arm, in the triceps area. This degree of brachioplasty can also occur due to sudden weight changes. The solution in these cases is usually liposculpture to regain skin firmness.
- Brachioplasty Grade III
This is the most advanced case, and it is necessary to undergo surgery to reduce the size of the arm. The excess volume in Grade III is related to aging and excess fat.

What is a brachioplasty procedure like?
Usually, an arm lift or brachioplasty procedure lasts between two and three hours. First, liposuction is performed on the inner and posterior sides of the arms. In cases where there is more localized fat in other areas of the arm, liposculpture in those areas may be necessary.
As the fat is removed from the arm area, it is necessary to thin the layer beneath the skin to reduce the size of the arm and prevent excess skin.
Next, an incision is made, the size of which depends on the degree of the brachioplasty. The procedure is carried out on the inner side of the arms, between the biceps and triceps. Through this incision, the skin is stretched, and all excess skin is removed. Once completed, the edges are stitched, and in the same operating room, a compression garment is placed, which must be worn for the first month to ensure the success of the intervention.

Anesthesia and postoperative
The intervention is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient is required to stay overnight for better postoperative monitoring by the World Med Center medical team.
On the day following the surgery, it is common for the patient to feel tired and experience discomfort in the intervention area. However, they can resume normal activities, with the recommendation of taking rest and avoiding stress during the first week.
Sutures are removed two weeks after the operation, and it may take a couple more weeks for the patient to reach their current size. If you have any more questions about the postoperative period, please contact us, and we will be happy to answer all your queries.
